Department booklet 2026-2027, Monday-to-Saturday grid (no start or end date published); no ferry on Sundays or public holidays

Sundays and holidays: the Jumièges ferry On Sundays and public holidays the Yainville town hall names the Jumièges ferry as the nearest alternative. It lands at Heurteauville too, on a different slipway, and the department's booklet shows it running every day. Its times are not on this page.

Closures and weather The department shows each ferry's status (normal, information, suspended) on the Inforoute 76 map and offers free email alerts. Information line: 0800 876 876 (free from French phones). Normandie Tourisme notes that bad weather can disrupt the service.

Crossing (foot passengers, bicycles, motorbikes, cars)Free

Normandie Tourisme states that the Seine ferries are free for cars, motorbikes, bicycles and foot passengers. Motorhomes are usually accepted, but ask the crew before you drive on. The department classes this crossing as a river ferry; lorries are only taken on its two maritime ferries, at Duclair and Port-Jérôme.

This small car ferry crosses the Seine between Yainville, on the right bank, and Heurteauville, on the left bank, in the Seine-Maritime département of Normandy. It is one of eight ferries that the Seine-Maritime department runs between Canteleu, near Rouen, and Quillebeuf-sur-Seine. The department has operated them since 2001, taking over from the Port of Rouen authority. Yainville is classed as a river ferry, so lorries are not carried; only the two maritime ferries, at Duclair and Port-Jérôme, take heavy goods vehicles.

The crossing is free, according to Normandie Tourisme, the regional tourist board, and it takes cars, motorbikes, bicycles and foot passengers. There is no ticket to buy. If you are driving a motorhome, check with the crew before boarding. The department does not publish a crossing time or a vehicle capacity for this ferry.

The 2026-2027 timetable booklet has the ferry working Monday to Saturday only. The first boat leaves Yainville at 05:00 and Heurteauville at 05:15; the last ones go at 22:10 and 22:20. Plan around three breaks in service, from 09:05 to 09:25, 16:05 to 16:25 and 20:05 to 20:25, and expect longer gaps between crossings after 20:30. The town hall's own timetable page leaves out four of the booklet's departures (05:00, 05:15, 18:10 and 18:20); if you are counting on one of them, ring the department's information line on 0800 876 876.

On Sundays and public holidays the Yainville ferry does not run. The town hall sends travellers to the Jumièges ferry, which also lands at Heurteauville, on a separate slipway, and which the booklet shows running every day. Nothing crosses on 1 May, when none of the Seine ferries operate.

Closures are posted on Inforoute 76, the department's travel information website, whose map marks each ferry as normal, information or suspended. You can also sign up there for free email alerts about the ferries.

  • Be at the landing a few minutes before departure; vehicle boarding can close before the posted time.
  • Check the operator's notices on the day — high river levels, wind, fog, works or maintenance can change or suspend crossings.
  • Find out how you pay before you travel: some river ferries are free, others sell tickets on the quay, on board or online.
