Timetable from Monday 2 November 2026 to Wednesday 31 March 2027: Monday-to-Friday grid shown; Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays have a shorter grid
Times are approximate; sign up for alerts The department says its times are indicative: depending on crowds and weather the boat may leave earlier or later, and the note under the timetable mentions departures up to 10 minutes ahead of the listed time. Wind, swell, fog and big tides can disrupt the service. Cancellations are sent free by text or email to anyone who signs up on the line's page.
Le Verdon – Royan is a separate line The works closure shown on the department's page from 2 November 2026 is for the Le Verdon-sur-Mer to Royan ferry, not for Blaye to Lamarque.
Lorries, buses and heavy loads Blaye to Lamarque takes nothing over 3.5 t: no buses, no heavier vehicles, and motorhomes only up to 3.5 t. Dangerous goods are banned.

Fares are from the department's price list in force since 1 April 2026: a reduced rate from 1 November to 31 March, the full rate from 1 April to 31 October. Every ticket is for one crossing; return tickets are not sold. A vehicle or bicycle fare does not cover the driver, who pays a foot-passenger fare, and every passenger in the vehicle pays too. You pay on board, by card, in cash or with paper chèques-vacances (no ordinary cheques). Prepaying in the online shop does not reserve a place or give priority. Under-4s, the companion of a disabled passenger holding a CMI card, and pets travel free. All fares in euros (EUR).
The Blaye to Lamarque ferry crosses the Gironde estuary between the Allées Marines in Blaye and the harbour at Lamarque. It is run by the Gironde department, which also operates the Le Verdon-sur-Mer to Royan ferry. One vessel, the Sébastien Vauban, works the line. The department gives about 20 minutes for the 4.5 km crossing, anywhere from 15 to 35 minutes depending on the tide, and says it saves a two-hour drive.
From 2 November 2026 to 31 March 2027 there are five sailings each way on weekdays and four on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. The early boat, at 07:15 from Blaye and 07:45 from Lamarque, only runs Monday to Friday; at weekends the first crossing is at 09:00 from Blaye. The ferry runs every day of the year, Christmas and New Year included, but the department treats its times as a guide, so be there early. It asks for 30 minutes before departure, longer in the holidays.
There is no booking for cars. Vehicles line up in three numbered lanes and move forward when the ship sounds its horn. Only the driver stays in the car to board; passengers get out and walk on, and nobody may stay in a vehicle during the crossing. You pay on board, by card, in cash or with paper chèques-vacances. Buying in the online shop only saves time at the till: it does not secure a place.
Each crossing is a separate ticket, and the car fare does not include anyone in it. Under the winter rate (1 November to 31 March) an adult on foot pays EUR 4, a car under 3.5 t EUR 13 plus each person, and a bicycle EUR 3 plus its rider. From 1 April the full rate applies, EUR 6 per adult and EUR 25 per car. The 3.5 t limit rules out lorries, buses and heavier motorhomes. Dogs and cats travel free on a lead, and every ship has a lift for passengers with reduced mobility.
- Be at the landing a few minutes before departure; vehicle boarding can close before the posted time.
- Check the operator's notices on the day — high river levels, wind, fog, works or maintenance can change or suspend crossings.
- Find out how you pay before you travel: some river ferries are free, others sell tickets on the quay, on board or online.
