No ticket needed: foot passengers, bicycles, motorcycles and cars all cross free. The Département counts Duclair as one of its two 'maritime' ferries, which take lorries. Motorhomes are usually accepted; Normandie Tourisme advises telling the staff before boarding.
This free car ferry crosses the Seine at Duclair, linking the Duclair slipway on the right bank with Berville-sur-Seine on the left bank. Both communes belong to the Rouen Normandie metropolitan area, according to the Département de la Seine-Maritime's dataset of its slipways. The Département runs the crossing and nobody pays: walk, cycle, ride or drive on without a ticket.
Duclair is one of two Seine crossings the Département classes as 'maritime', the category open to lorries; the other is Port-Jérôme. Motorhomes are usually accepted, but Normandie Tourisme asks drivers to let the staff know before boarding.
The 2026–2027 booklet prints four different grids for each direction, so look at the one for your day of travel. On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays the first boats leave Berville at 04:25 and Duclair at 04:50, with an hour's break in the middle of the day. On Wednesdays and Saturdays that break comes twenty minutes later. Saturday evenings run on until 23:50 from Duclair and midnight from Berville, against 22:30 and 22:40 on other nights. Sundays and public holidays share a shorter grid: one sailing from each bank around 06:00, a slot kept for a safety drill, then a restart at 07:20 from Berville and 07:30 from Duclair. Every evening there is also a short gap with no sailings around 21:00.
Normandie Tourisme says no Seine ferry runs on 1 May. Otherwise, treat the printed times as a plan rather than a promise: the Inforoute 76 map and the 76 Pocket app show whether the 'Bac de Duclair' is running normally, suspended or subject to a notice, and the Département uses them to announce planned maintenance stops. For specific questions, the CIGT traffic centre is on 0800 876 876.
- Be at the landing a few minutes before departure; vehicle boarding can close before the posted time.
- Check the operator's notices on the day — high river levels, wind, fog, works or maintenance can change or suspend crossings.
- Find out how you pay before you travel: some river ferries are free, others sell tickets on the quay, on board or online.
